Rackspace to G Suite migration System Requirements

So you have decided to migrate from Rackspace to G Suite with us. Congratulations, In this post we will tell you what information we need to migrate you from Rackspace to G Suite smoothly.

Migration Requirements

1. G Suite Super Admin Credentials (Required)

We would need your G Suite Super Administrator email id and password to login and make required changes so Google can ingest the emails from Rackspace to your G Suite users mailboxes.

You can either provide your existing G Suite Super Administrator credentials, or create a new mailbox and assign it super administrator rights.

If you have not created G Suite yet, don’t worry about it. We will create it for your and use the admin account for migration.

2. Your DNS Credentials (Optional)

You should also provide us access to your DNS, its the place where your domain name servers are hosted (e.g Godaddy), we will need to make certain changes in your DNS.

We follow a proven Rackspace to G Suite Migration process but please let us know If you are not comfortable sharing your DNS credentials.

We can also send the required DNS changes for you to make. You should be available on weekend for couple of hours if you prefer to do this yourself.

3. Advance Migration Fee 50% (Required)

We use premium migration utility and expert resources for your Rackspace to G Suite migration, hence we require 50% project advance fee to allocated our resources to your migration project.

4. Your Company Logo (Optional)

We can personalize your users G Suite mailboxes with your logo instead of Google’s default one. This logo appears at the top of your users’ services window, after they sign in to their account.

Please provide us the logo with following size and dimensions.

G Suite Logo – File Size and Format

5. Rackspace Details (Required)

Rackspace offers following 3 different email plans whereas migration is performed differently for each of them. These plans also define type of data (e.g email, calendar, contacts) we can migrate for you.

Please see below what information you need to provide based which email hosting plan you have with Rackspace.

Your Rackspace Plan?

We would need information based on which email hosting plan you have with Rackspace.

Most of the customers that migrate with us from Rackspace to G Suite are usually on either Plan #2 or #3 shown above.

If you are using Office 365 (#1) – We will need a super admin mailbox with application impersonation rights, you will need to do following for it.

1. Create a new admin mailbox (or use any new one if you comfortable providing it to us)

2. Contact Rackspace support and ask them to provide this mailbox full “Impersonation rights” on all mailboxes..

  • We can migrate Email, Calendar and Contacts in this case.

If you are using Microsoft Exchange with Rackspace (#2) – We will need a mailbox with impersonation rights on all the mailboxes, you will need to do following for it.

1. Create a new admin mailbox (or use any new one if you comfortable providing it to us)

2. Contact Rackspace support and ask them to provide this mailbox full “Impersonation rights” on all mailboxes.

  • We can migrate Email, Calendar and Contacts in this case.

If you are using Rackspace Email (#3) – We will need email address and password of each of your users to migrate their data.

This password is used programmatically by our data migration utility which does not save any data except reporting stats like how many emails are migrated, success percentage etc.

  • We can migrate Email & Contacts for you, but not calendar as Rackspace does not provide a way to export calendar in this plan.

Please login to your Rackspace Administration Console and visit services from the dropdown in top right hand corner.

You can also check your recent Rackspace bill to know your email plan, or you may also call their support for it.
